John T. “Jack” Askew, 77, of Northern Cambria, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at his home.
The son of John W. and Caroline G. (Deyarmin) Askew, he was born on April 20, 1947.
Jack attended the local Kinport Assembly of God Church.
He worked as a coal miner for twenty and a half years and graduated from Mt. Aloysius as a certified occupational therapy assistant.
Jack also served in the US Army and was honorably discharged after serving two years in Germany.
After retirement, Jack chose to work part time at TCT Transportation as a substitute van driver
for the Penns Manor School District students.
Surviving are his incredibly loving wife, Genevieve “Jen” L. (Lovick) Askew, whom he married on May 1, 1971; his two daughters: Tracie Wyandt (husband Stacey) and Melissa Fridley (husband Jamie); his sister Joyce Ruggles (husband George); four grandchildren: Tyler Fridley; Marlee Fridley; Alexis Wyandt and Josh Wyandt and two bonus great grandchildren Jackson and Raelyn, along with countless other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jack was an incredible husband, father and pap.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as many other family members.
Friends and family will be received from 4-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Rairigh
Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA.
There will be a private funeral service with military honors and a private burial will take place at McDowell Cemetery,
