David A. Almeida, age 70, of Middleboro, fondly known as Dave, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.
Born and raised in Taunton, David led a remarkable life filled with dedication, love, and cherished memories. He was the husband of the late Janet (Souza) Almeida.
Graduating from Coyle and Cassidy High School, David embarked on a career as a correctional officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. With over two decades of service, he spent his career working in Walpole and Bridgewater before retiring. He also ran both the SWAT and K-9 units during his career.
David will be remembered for his deep love for seafood, steak, and breakfast. Thanks to his granddaughter, Isabelle he recently discovered a love for Bubble tea. Whether indulging in the flavors of East Wind Lobster and Grille in Onset or Wood's Seafood in Plymouth, he found joy in the simple pleasures of a good meal. David had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He also enjoyed serene moments by the Cape Cod Canal watching the water with his daughter Rebecca.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and culinary delights, David was known for his enthusiasm for fishing. Always hopeful to catch something memorable. He mostly enjoyed taking his boat out fishing with his daughter, granddaughter, his brother Jimmy and best friends Matt, Bobby and Timmy. Mr. Almeida took pleasure in the simples things in life, especially spending time with his late wife Janet, his daughter, granddaughter and his pets.
Dave is survived by his beloved daughter, Rebecca Almeida of Middleboro, and granddaughter Isabelle Kingsley. Additionally, he is survived by his twin brother James Almeida of Georgia.
A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date.
