COYNE, LEO J. of South Boston was the cherished husband of Margaret Tkacik Coyne for 42 years and the devoted and loving father of Christina Rodrigues and her husband Frank Rodrigues of Marshfield, Sue Coyne McGuigan and her husband Patrick of Marshfield, Matthew and Karen Coyne of Danvers and Katy Coyne of Marshfield. Leo was preceded in death by his sweet and beloved daughter, Annie Coyne, and we take comfort in knowing they are reunited in heaven.
He was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Mary (Griffin) Coyne, with Mary hailing from Galway, Ireland. He was preceded in death by all eight of his siblings, including Thomas, Kathleen McCarron, Joe, Anna Kalil, Robert, William, Walter, and Paul. Leo was also a cherished friend to Maureen Shea and Mike Quinn.
Leo, affectionately known as Papa, Pa, and Papa Leo, adored his grandchildren, and they brought immeasurable joy into his life – Troy, Tony, Olivia, Griffin, Matilda, Ella, Patrick and Chad. He also had many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him.
Leo was a dedicated firefighter in Scituate, MA, where he served with honor and bravery. Leo loved spending time with his family, creating cherished memories with each moment shared. He had a passion for traveling, exploring new places and countries with Margy by his side. Leo enjoyed bartending for many years, bringing joy to others with his welcoming nature and friendly personality, which made him well-loved in the community.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, Boston, MA 02127. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 1st from 4:00-7:00p.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Brigid Church, South Boston, Thursday at 10:00a.m.
