WEBSTER – Mary (Macuga) Wedda, 92, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in Care One, Millbury after a short illness. Her husband of 35 years, Edward J. Wedda, died in 2001.
She leaves nieces and nephews including her care givers Frank A. Czechowski, Jr. and his wife Kathleen and their children Frank A. Czechowski III, Joseph Czechowski, Melissa Czechowski and Kimberly Czechowski; and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Joseph, William, Stephen and “Butch” Macuga and by 2 sisters, Victoria Czechowski and Frances Robson.
She was born at home on December 3, 1931, the youngest of the 7 children of Albert and Mary (Schmidt) Macuga and graduated from Douglas High School. She lived in Webster for over 60 years.
Mrs. Wedda was an assembler at the former Webster Shoe Company for many years before retiring.
She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica. She loved and cared for Frank and Kathleen’s children and especially their 9 grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 27, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home Saturday before the Mass.
