Shirley Evon Sumner Adams, 65, of Lakeland passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Billy Dawson, the Rev. Wayne Hughes and the Rev. Paul Sumner officiating. Mrs. Adams was laid to rest at Omega Cemetery.
Born March 15, 1937, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Doc Sumner and Maude Elizabeth Griffis Sumner. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of the Church of God organization for 44 years.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, John Jessie Adams of Lakeland; three daughters, Linda Carlson of Lakeland, Cindy Stephens of Omega and Mary Dorminey of Valdosta; two brothers, R. L. Sumner and W. T. Sumner, both of Lenox; two sisters, Beatrice McGill of Hahira and Betty Jean Bright of Orlando, Florida; and two grandchildren, Brian Carlson and Emily Dorminey.
