Irene E. (McKeown) Porzio, 92, of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Vantage Health Care (formerly Palm Manor) in Chelmsford. She was the widow of the late Gino Porzio who passed away in 2012.
Irene was born on May 11, 1931 in Allston, a daughter of the late Thomas McKeown and the late Elizabeth (Pauley) McKeown. She was raised and educated in the Brookline area and was a graduate of Brighton High School.
She worked for over 20 years in the semiconductor manufacturing field, mostly as a diode assembler. Many of those years were spent with Transitron in Wakefield and she eventually retired from Alpha in Woburn.
She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time at the beach, especially York Beach, Maine, Hampton Beach, NH and Cape Cod. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and also spent many Saturday nights with her husband at Wonderland in Revere. Above all else though, was her family. She was a dedicated wife, devoted caretaker and a loving grandmother.
She is survived by her children, William Hall of Brockton, Robert Porzio of Lakewood, OH, Thomas Porzio and his wife, Charlene, of Tewksbury, Ronald Porzio and his husband, Erik McClure of Wareham, Larry Porzio of Dorchester, Gary Porzio and his fiancé, Dolores Anoli, of Andover, her grandchildren, Cheryl Hall, Karina Yotts, Alina, Aria, Larry Jr, Kristopher, Nikolas and Anthony Porzio.
She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Egan of Brookline and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also the sister of the late, Rev. Thomas McKeown
You are welcome to attend her calling hours on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA. Her Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by procession to Tewksbury Cemetery.
