Obituary

Charlie Gordon Apperson, 73, of Tifton passed away Thursday, February 21, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronny Vice and the Rev. John Cone officiating. Mr. Apperson was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Brian Watson, Lindsey Evans, Johnny Evans, Ivey Evans, Buddy Evans, Farrell Smith and Larry Apperson served as pallbearers.

Born August 27, 1928, in Tift County, Mr. Apperson was the son of the late Charlie Jones Apperson and Lucretia Hobby Apperson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. He was a retired electrician; and he was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Tifton. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Apperson is survived by his wife, Frankie Carter Apperson of Tifton; one son, Johnny Sheffield of Forsyth; five daughters, Lori Spradley of Byron, June Shiver and Pam Giddens, both of Forsyth, Jackie McPherson of Tifton and Vicki Lovett of McRae; two sisters, Marie Young of Oglethorpe and Grace Watson of Tifton; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
