Alma Montgomery Young Tillman, 80, of Americus passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jimmy Voyles and the Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiating. Mrs. Tillman was laid to rest at Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
Tommy Hunter, Derek Hunter, Marcus Barrett, Tommy Willis and W. F. Taylor served as pallbearers.
Born August 15, 1922, in Tift County, Mrs. Tillman was the daughter of the late Charlie Montgomery and Minnie Lou Myles Montgomery. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Young; her second husband, Jessie Buck Tillman; one son; and one grandson. Before retiring, she worked in food preparation at Abraham Baldwin College; and she was a member of Omega Baptist Church.
Mrs. Tillman is survived by two sons, Stanley Hunter of Gainesville and David Young of Tifton; one sister, Lillian Pendarvis of Lenox; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Young and Ruby Tillman; and ten grandchildren.
