Donald E. Boisvert, a dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024 in his home while surrounded by family. He was born on October 14, 1929, in L’Avenir, Quebec, Canada, the son of Ovila Boisvert and Marie (Thibeault) Boisvert.
Donald was married to the love of his life, Berthe Y. (Cote) Boisvert, for 67 wonderful years. Together, they raised two children, Carole M. Cormier and her husband, Brian of Leicester, MA and Donald E. Boisvert Jr. and his wife, Alison of Rochdale, MA. He was a devoted grandfather to Derek Cormier and his wife, Lindsay, Danielle Cormier, David Boisvert and his wife, Kayla, and Chantel Boisvert, and a proud great-grandfather to Michael Cormier, Matthew Cormier, and Meredith Cormier.
Donald was a man of strong faith and was a longtime parishioner of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church in Worcester, later joining Our Lady of the Angels Church in Worcester. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4528 in Leicester and a past member of the New England Cemetery Association.
Donald spent his entire career working for Notre Dame Cemetery and Mausoleum, where he dedicated over 60 years of service, with more than 40 years as superintendent. Even after retiring, he continued to assist the staff one day a week, demonstrating his commitment and passion for his work. His knowledge and compassionate nature were invaluable to the families he served.
Time spent with family was precious to Donald. He cherished his trips back home to Canada, where he could reconnect with his extended family. He took great joy in being with his wife and children and faithfully went to his grandchildren's sporting events, always offering his unwavering support and love.
Donald is predeceased by three brothers, Leo Boisvert, Roger Boisvert, and Edward Boisvert, and a sister, Pauline Gregoire. He is survived by his two brothers, Armand Boisvert of North Uxbridge, MA, and Joseph Elie Boisvert of Worcester, and two sisters, Therese Ogris of Ontario, Canada, and Celine Kallanian of Auburn, MA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11:30 AM in Notre Dame Mausoleum, 162 Webster St. Worcester, with entombment to immediately follow. A calling hour will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 in the mausoleum prior to the funeral mass.
