Lorraine E. (Marks) Byers, age 89, a resident of Tewksbury for over 55 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Saturday, April 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of Robert F. Byers, who passed away on December 7, 2013.
Born in Somervile on September 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Smith) Marks.
Lorraine was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School.
Prior to retiring, she was employed for 30 years as an inspector by the Compupgraphic Corporation.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Cheryl Conley and her husband Ed, of Billerica, Sandra Tibbetts and her late husband Rick, of Tewksbury, Maureen Testa and her husband Jeffrey, of Pepperell, Bob Byers and his wife Laura, of Windham, NH, Jill Zaher and her husband Ken, of Westford.
She also leaves seventeen grandchildren, Eddie, Nicole and Chris Conley, Eric, Amy, Mark and Rick Tibbetts, Jen, Amy, Kelli-Ann and Brittany Testa, Zach, Jake, Ashley and Brooke Byers, and Kenny and Kaley Zaher. She also was blessed with sixteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Lorraine was the sister of Edmund Marks and his late wife Dorothy, of Tewksbury, the late Eleanor Farrell, Dorothy Marks, Joseph (Harpo) Marks, Russell Marks, and the late Robert Marks and his wife Patty. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was everyone's “favorite Aunt!”
Lorraine loved vacationing at Hampton Beach with her family. She also loved taking cruises and traveling to Aruba with her late husband Bob. She lit up a room with her infectious smile. She loved to sing and dance. She enjoyed hosting family and friends and you could find them most Saturday nights playing cards hosting “Saturday night fever.” She was also a devout Christion and attended The Tewksbury United Methodist Church every Sunday where she volunteered as a greeter and other duties.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 25th, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin Friday, April 26th, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Tewksbury United Medthodist Church, 2335 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury.
