John Arthur Mill, Sr., 85, of Medway, died on April 20, 2024, at his home with his beloved family beside him following a long illness. He was the husband of Madeline “Sugar” (Rojee) Mill, with whom he would have been married for 60 years in May.
Born in Boston on August 12, 1938, the son of the late John and Gertrude (Mullane) Mill, John had lived in Medway since the age of 13.
John was a member of the Medway Police Department and retired as a sergeant in 1981. He served in the Navy during the late 1950’s. John had been a member of the Medway Police Association and a lifetime member of the Franklin Elks. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with the love of his life, Sugar.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, retired Massachusetts State Police Major John A. Mill, Jr. and his wife Stacey of Medway, retired Franklin Police Deputy Chief James Mill and his wife Dede of Medway, and retired Medway and Franklin Police Officer Jennifer Mitchell and her husband, retired Medway Police Sergeant Stephen Mitchell of Medway. He is also survived by his grandchildren John “Jack” Mill III and his wife Peggy, Peter Mill, Nick Mill and his wife Christianna, TJ Mill, Taylor Mill, Matthew Mill, Kyle Mitchell, Kristin Mitchell, Kristopher Mitchell as well as his two great-grandchildren Ophelia and Henry Mitchell.
He is also survived by his beloved nephew Patrick Mobley of Norton, and is predeceased by his sister Nancy Roberts.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Church in Medway at 11:00am. The burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
