Obituary

Worcester-Henry Skalski passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the age of 98 in the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center. He was married to his devoted wife, Wanda (Kreczkowska) Skalski for sixty-seven years. He leaves his daughter, Eve and her husband Richard LaMonda of Spencer and his daughter JoAnne and her partner Jeff West of Worcester and New Hampshire. Henry, a proud World War II veteran joined an allied combat unit, 1st Polish Expeditionary Corps at the beginning of the war. He was in communication signals, 2nd Lieutenant, Special Operations. Henry was a graduate of Glasgow College, Scotland, majoring in radio communications. He also graduated from the Business College of Pennsylvania, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Henry, his wife, and daughter emigrated from Halifax, England to the United States in 1959. For twenty-five years, he was employed at Presmet Corporation in Worcester. He ended his engineering career at Parker Manufacturing. Henry was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He was also Commander of the Polish Combatants, Post 17 in Worcester and was also a member of the Worcester Veterans Council. Henry was a committee member to rebuild the WWII Worcester Veteran’s Monument at City Hall Common. He enjoyed golfing into his early 90’s. He was well versed in local and national politics, which was reflected in his many editorials that were published by the Telegram and Gazette. His main dedication was his family and the veterans. He will be missed by his family and friends.
A calling hour will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. A funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday in Our Lady of Czestochowa, 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
