Dewey “Curtis” Billings, 80, of Tifton passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Billings will be laid to rest at Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Wayne Kelly, J. J. McMillan, Billy Dean, Michael Dean, Teddy Golden and Joey Golden will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Mr. Billings' friends.
Born December 7, 1943, in Colquitt County, Mr. Billings was the son of the late A. B. “Jim” Billings and Dollie Mae Johnson Billings. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bob Billings, Johnny Ray Billings and Tommy Billings; and two sisters, Lottie Henderson and Nellie McMillan. Before retiring, he was a locksmith at Abraham Baldwin College; and he was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God. He loved his family; and he loved hunting and fishing. One of his greatest joys was picking out Christmas presents for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed having fish fries with his family and friends; and he dearly loved his companion dog, “Buddy”.
Mr. Billings is survived by his wife, Kay Golden Billings of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Courtney Billings of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon Boyd and her fiancé’, Terry Revels of Tifton and Tammy and Michael Burgess of Norman Park; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Casey Jo Hampton, Jace and Tristen Hampton, Colt Tomberlin and Brittney Burgess; and five great-grandchildren, Mitchell Hampton, Elliott Hampton, Levi Hampton, Emery Jo Hampton and Hadley Hampton.
