LACONIA ---- William Elliott Campbell, 78, of Laconia, NH died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH
William was born February 19, 1946, in Gloucester, MA one of 14 children of commercial fisherman, Lloyd and Virginia (Nelson) Campbell.
Following graduation from Gloucester High School, Bill entered the US Army. He served four years total and two of those years were spent in Vietnam. After his return he attended Ferris State University in Michigan where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. His career in manufacturing spanned five decades, multiple companies, and travel experiences across the world. During his international travels Bill made lasting friends around the globe.
From a young age, Bill enjoyed anything with wheels. He started out driving trucks and operating heavy equipment.
In his retirement, Bill found a love of golf and completing puzzles. He was a devoted Bruins fan, lover of all dogs, but especially his golden retrievers, and he enjoyed driving his Corvette.
A proud husband, father, and grandfather; William is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Nancy (Burns) Campbell, his sons Billy (Kim) of Juneau, AK, Daniel (Cristen) of Laconia, NH, and Derek (Carol), of Bedfield, ND, daughters Melissa (Tony) Ditulio of Madbury, NH and Julie (Taylor) Bowie of Altoona, IA, and grandchildren Brody Campbell, Ben Campbell, Dylan Campbell and Victoria Casarano. He also leaves his six brothers; Doug (Madaline) of Gloucester, MA, Ron (Sally), of Gloucester, MA, Lloyd (Lura), of Rancho Mirage, CA, Roger (Carol), of Rockport, MA, and Wayne (Maria), of Magnolia, MA, and two sisters; Marion MacArthur, of Gloucester, MA and Linda (Dinish) Nemani, of Middleton, RI. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by five sisters; Elaine, Irene, Nancy, Gracie and Shirley.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 3:00-6:00pm in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
