SPRINGFIELD – Kevin O'Connor, 67, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 31, 1956, a beloved son of the late Patrick C. O'Connor Sr. and Mary Ellen (Fenton) O'Connor. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Technical High School, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. He was a Clerk at the United States Post Office Bulk Mail Center in Indian Orchard and retired in 2018. He enjoyed playing cards and trying his luck at the casino. He was an avid fisherman and loved being at the beach. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his wife and best friend, Margaret "Maggie" (Fernandes) O'Connor. They were married on May 20, 1978 at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and they were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving and devoted children, Brian P. O'Connor and his wife, Shantelle, of Wilbraham, Timothy K. O'Connor and his wife, Ally, and Kelsey A. O'Connor, all of Springfield; his four cherished grandchildren, Ava, Nora, Liam, and Cali O'Connor; his five siblings, Maureen Brown and her husband, George of Connecticut, Patrick O'Connor and his wife, Diane, of Springfield, Thomas O'Connor of Florida, Kathleen O'Connor of Belchertown, and Daniel O'Connor of Ludlow; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Dennis O'Connor; and his sister in law, Christine O'Connor. His family would like to thank the staff from Beacon Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to Kevin and the family. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
