Obituary

Sarah Lowe Wier Rollins Outerbridge, 94, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Maple Court Assisted Living in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe and the Rev. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III officiating. Mrs. Outerbridge was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Robert Franklin, Sam Franklin, Brother Fleming, George Wright, Jim Lever, John Longino, George Longino and Travis Smith served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the member of Mrs. Outerbridge's Sunday School Class at Tifton's First Baptist Church.

Born November 27, 1908, in Athens, Mrs. Outerbridge was the daughter of the late Albert Wier and Nannie Branch Wier. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Evart Lane Rollins; and her second husband, Rear Admiral William Outerbridge, Sr. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. She attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Tift College. She was the first President of Tifton's Junior Woman's Club and President of the Azalea Garden Club in Tifton. She was the organizing regent for the Tallahassee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had lived in Tifton since 1938.

Mrs. Outerbridge is survived by three step-sons, Thomas Outerbridge of Indiana and Robert Outerbridge and William Outerbridge, Jr., both of Virginia; and one niece, Glenn Franklin of Saluda, North Carolina.
