Obituary

Walter R. Bienieki, 90, of Munyan Road, Putnam CT, formerly of Rainbow Road, Chepachet, passed away on April 12th in the Heritage Hills Nursing Center, Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Theresa C. (Rutkiewicz) Bienieki. They had been married for 57 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Walter and Anna C. (Seaules) Bienieki. He had lived in Putnam, CT for 4 years previously living in Chepachet.

Walter was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He had been an Insurance Adjuster with The Harford Insurance Company for 18 years before retiring.

He was a founding member of the RI House of Representatives Veteran’s Affairs Committee. He was a member of the KWVA. He was a hockey player for many amateur hockey teams. He was an avid skier.

He leaves his brother, Robert Bienieki of Chittenden, VT, a nephew, Brian Bienieki of Chittenden, VT and a great-niece, Margaret Bienieki of North Carolina. Jeffrey Rutkiewicz of Charlton, MA and Paul Ludvigson of Leominster, MA He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his caretaker Frances Ballou of Greenville. He was the brother of the late Ronald Bienieki.

Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday April 23rd at 11am in St. Eugene’s Church, 1247 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Acote’s Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G Street, NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005
