Adelaide Heath Nobles, 86, of Tifton passed away Monday, May 26, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and the Rev. Paul Thomas officiating. Mrs. Nobles was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Dr. Curtis Branch, Dr. Morris Davis, Royce Jones, Ralph Leonard, Billy Taylor and John DeJesus served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Cheerful Workers Sunday School Class at Tifton's First Baptist Church, members of the American Legion Auxiliary, and former and present employees of H & R Block and Nobles Insurance in Tifton.
Born April 28, 1917, in Tifton, Mrs. Nobles was the daughter of the late William A. Heath and Belle Matthews Heath. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Before retiring, she was the owner and operator of Nobles Insurance Company in Tifton and a tax preparer at H & R Block in Tifton; and she was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Nobles is survived by her husband, Daniel J. "D. J." Nobles of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Larry Staley of Valdosta; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
