Dora Elizabeth Barnes McCook, 87, of Tifton passed away Friday, August 8, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jay Roberson and the Rev. Jerry Lillard officiating. Mrs. McCook was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. McCook's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Born September 5, 1915, in Tift County, Mrs. McCook was the daughter of the late Edward Randolph Barnes and Estella McDaniel Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel McCook. Before retiring, she was a toll collector for the State of Florida; and she was a member of Tifton's First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. McCook is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Richard and Genie McCook of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ferol McCook DeBerry and Gail Elizabeth and Bill Hogsten, all of Tifton; one brother, James Donald Barnes of Hartford, Alabama; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
