James Harold Mason, Sr.,86, of Tifton passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mr. Mason was laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Atlanta.
Dr. John McCoy, Dale Pflug, Wilbur Webb, Dr. James Kirkpatrick, Dr. Albert Espinola and Dr. Joe Turner served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Kicklighter Sunday School Class at Tifton's First Baptist Church
Born June 24, 1916, in Homer (Banks County), Mr. Mason was the son of the late Grover C. Mason and Merle Perkins Mason. He was a 1938 graduate of the University of Georgia and worked with Swift and Company for over 30 years in the livestock department and was a livestock buyer; and he was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of 65 years, Golden Eberhardt Mason of Tifton; two sons, Dr. James H. Mason, Jr. of Roswell and Dr. Charles W. Mason of Bigfork, Montana; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
