Edward W. Murphy Sr, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 at Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow. He was born on June 19, 1942 in Springfield, son of the late James and Viola (Wenig) Murphy. Edward worked as an auto body technician for Sweeney Transportation for many years before he retired. He is predeceased by his wife Marian J. (Aras) Murphy, two brothers, James and Kenneth Murphy and one sister Janice Desroches. He is survived by four sons, Edward Murphy Jr and his wife Melody of Chicopee; James Murphy and his wife Barbara of Bedford, Martin Murphy of Ludlow and Neal Murphy and his wife Vanessa of Selden, NY; one daughter, Julie Murphy of Chicopee; one sister June Wiegel of Ludlow; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Monday, April 22, 2024, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by an In House Prayer Service at 11:00 AM.
