Obituary

WEBSTER – John B. Scheffler, 86, died peacefully Monday, April 15, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife, with whom he would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on April 27th, Barbara J. (Carter) Scheffler; 2 children, James J. Scheffler and his wife Ann and Linda J. Hickey and her husband Thomas, all of Webster; 3 grandchildren, Victoria E. Kerkhoff and her husband Alex of East Brookfield, Benjamin J. Scheffler and Hanna M. Scheffler both of Webster; 2 great-grandchildren, Everly and Caden Kerkhoff; a sister, Jeanette Stefanov of Hartford, CT. He was preceded in death by his brothers Raymond, Edgar and Norman Scheffler.

He was born on June 20, 1937 in Webster, a son of John S. and Arzelia (Provost) Scheffler. He graduated from Bartlett Trade School in 1956.

Mr. Scheffler was a union carpenter with Francis Harvey and Sons in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Local 107 Carpenters Union.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and cherished the time he spent with his family.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 18, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home prior to Mass. The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations in his memory may be made to All Saints Academy, 48 Negus Street, Webster, MA 01570.
