WEBSTER – Shirley B. (Nowicki) LaCerte, 87, died on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at home, surrounded by her family, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 67 years, Peter R. “Pete” LaCerte; 3 children, Doreen M. LaCerte and her husband Paul Solem of Rio Rancho, NM, Kelly A. Tiffany and her husband Russell of Thompson, CT, and Scott A. LaCerte and his companion Dianna Gerani of Killingly, CT; a daughter-in-law, Lisa LaCerte-Buckley and her husband Jeff Buckley of New York State; 12 grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse, Justice, Stephanie, Robert, Kirstie, Kerri-Lynn, Aaron, Brett, Cheyann, Alicia and Nikki; 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Peter M. LaCerte in 2005, by her daughter Sharlene M. LaCerte in 2018, by her granddaughter Rebecca LaCerte in 2020 by her brother Leonard Nowicki in 1981.
She was born on December 20, 1936 in Webster, the daughter of Michael and Minnie (Reich) Nowicki and was a 1955 graduate of Saint Louis High School.
Mrs. LaCerte worked as a research analyst for Commerce Insurance in Webster for 22 years retiring in 1994.
She was a member of Saint Louis Church where she was a lector and a member of the League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Friday, May 3, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street with a memorial Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Visitation will be held Friday morning in the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, prior to the Mass.
