Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne Barbara Diebolt, beloved Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, and Great Great Aunt. She died peacefully on April 8 th .
Auntie Susan was born January 17, 1942 to John Diebolt and Joan Osbaldeston Diebolt in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
She graduated from Ventura High School in 1960 and later in life received an AS Degree from Ventura College in 1994.
She was retired from Pacific Bell (Now AT&T) after many years as a Telephone Operator.
During her life, Auntie Susan had an inspiring love for travel and adventure. In her lifetime she traveled to many exotic locations around the world including India and Nepal, where she rode elephants. Elephants became her favorite of all the exotic animals she would see in her lifetime. She climbed part of Mount Everest. She also lived for 2 years in Holland. In her time abroad she learned Folk Dancing, which she loved. Auntie Susan’s travels created many great memories that she shared with her family and friends over the years.
Auntie Susan was passionate about cooking. She truly was a culinary artist. Her signature ‘Air Buns’ were legendary. You knew that anytime you came by her house you would be treated to something special.
Auntie Susan spent many years as a daycare provider for many of her family members’ children. She truly played a vital role in raising her nieces and nephews, along with many other extended family members. She truly loved providing comfort and guidance to those she cared for. She will always be remembered as a stabilizing influence in so many lives.
Later in life, Auntie Susan sharpened her skills as a master crochet artist. She crafted many one-of- a-kind blankets for family and friends alike. They will be cherished forever in her memory.

Auntie Susan is survived by her siblings, John Paul (Susan) Diebolt, Nora Bowlin, and David (Arlene) Diebolt. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Kristi (Jeff) Miskel, David (Angie) Zepf, Jay Bowlin, Heather Diebolt, Tiffany Diebolt, Brooke (Charlie) Schlecte, Brandon Diebolt, Marissa Diebolt, and Matt (Jennifer) Diebolt, along with numerous Great and Great Great nieces and nephews.
Auntie Susan leaves behind a legacy of love, caring and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Auntie Susan’s memory will live on in our hearts, and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to Memorial Services to be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 1:00pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. A lunch reception will follow the service at one of Auntie Susan’s favorite Ventura restaurants – Casa De Soria from 2 pm to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Lung Association.
