Jeanette Laminack Thompson, 84, of Ocilla, Georgia died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Jeremy Cox and the Rev. Ike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Pope City Cemetery, in Wilcox County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Ms. Thompson was born February 24, 1940, in Cleburne County, Alabama, to the late Ermon Jackson Laminack & Nellie Mae Hart Laminack. She began her career in civil services in Warner Robins and eventually moved to Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida before retiring after 38 years of service. After retirement, Ms. Thompson escorted buses to the casinos in Biloxi, worked in insurance, obtained her Real Estate license, and worked for the crisis hotline for 10 years. She was a member of Pope City Baptist Church.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Lacey of Summerdale, Alabama; a step-grandson, Jason Albright of Houston, Texas; four great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Pam Lacey of Summerdale, Alabama; niece, Ellen Herndon of Ocilla, as well as other nieces & nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons: James Gary Lacey and Ricky Jackson Lacey; three sisters & three brothers.
