Barbara Joan Leininger, of Bow, New Hampshire, formerly a longtime resident of Malden, Massachusetts, passed away on April 10th, 2024 at home while surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Barbara was the daughter of the late Harry Bonin and Katherine (Walsh) Bonin. She was the loving wife of the late retired Medford Police Detective John E. Leininger. She is survived by her six sons and their wives. Gary and Rose Leininger of Somerville, Massachusetts, Kevin and Michelle Leininger of Salem, New Hampshire, Kerry Paul Leininger of Seagrove, North Carolina, Mark and Michelle Leininger of Keene, New Hampshire, Brian and Maureen Leininger of Bow, New Hampshire, John Jr. and Judi Leininger of Ocala, Florida and Nancy Leininger of Billerica, Massachusetts. Barbara is survived by 11 grandchildren; Samantha, Katlyn, Rebecca, Michelle, Rachel, Joshua, Brian, Nicole, Megan, Shannon and Stephanie. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
Barbara’s life revolved around children. From working in the Cambridge School System to running her own daycare later in life. The thing that brought her the most joy in life was being around her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, especially during the annual vacation trips with the family. Barbara was an avid bowler who also enjoyed attending Bingo games and playing Yahtzee at home with her family. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley songs as well as collecting Elvis memorabilia. She will be forever missed and loved by her family.
Relatives and friend are invited to attend visitation at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday April 19th from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
