Benoit Calixte of Brockton, MA was called by God on Sunday April 7 , 2024, after a sudden decline due to his heart condition. He was 82 years young.
Benoit, affectionately known as “Ben” or “Papi Ben” was born on April 15, 1941, in Torbeck, Haiti. Ben is survived by his former wife, six children, six grandchildren, along with a brother, a sister, many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He had a knack for making friends easily and making each one of them feel like his best friend. He was accepting of just about everyone and welcomed them with open heart, open arms and a perpetual smile.
Ben was an exemplary father and human being. It is easy to say that he embodied
the best of qualities regardless of his imperfections: unconditional love, strength of
spirit, unwavering faith and an unending generosity that could be seen in the way
he cared for those he loved, especially his children.
As a highly esteemed shoemaker, Benoit took great pride in his appearance and
was easily the best dressed in any room he entered. He carried himself with
dignity, humility, and he imparted wisdom towards anyone who lent a listening
ear. Needless to say, his sense of humor captured the hearts of those around him.
His departure brings on a deep wound that is gravely felt by his entire family and
countless others who loved him. We are truly saddened by his passing and will
continue to carry on his honorable legacy. We will forever cherish the fond
memories he has left us with.
Family and friends are invited to attend viewing hours on Friday April 19, 2024 from 9-10 AM followed by a Religious Service from 10-11:30 in the Brockton Temple 7 Day Adventist Church, 235 Court Street, Brockton, MA. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl Street, Brockton, MA.
