Gerald F. "Gerry" McGrath 82, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Sunday April 7, 2024 at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Marlborough, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Margaret M. (Gallagher) McGrath.
Born May 12, 1941, in Boston, a son of the late James and R. Frances (Cronan) McGrath, he was a former resident of Plainville for over 47 years until moving to Franklin.
He was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston Technical High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving with the Seabees and was honorably discharged in 1962. Gerald then continued his education at Northeastern University and was a retired project manager for Verizon.
Gerry was a member of Franklin Country Club, where he played many rounds of golf and enjoyed reading, finances, history, politics, and taking care of his yard with John Deere tractor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lori A. McGrath, a brother Peter McGrath and his wife Ann, a sister-in-law Francine McGrath, a cousin who was like a sister Mary Anne McGonagle. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
He was the brother of the late Jim McGrath, Joe McGrath and Peggy Dupuis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday April 16th, with visitation beginning at 9AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 130 South Street Wrentham, MA at 11AM.
Burial will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery, in Falmouth.
