BUXTON- Stanley L Townsend Jr. 93, passed away on April 9, 2024, at his home in Buxton.
He was born September 10, 1930, in Portland, Maine, the son of the late Stanley and Shirley Townsend.
After college he served as a radioman in the Army, with a post in Germany during the Korean War. He came back to Maine and lived in Buxton for the rest of his life.
Stan married Elizabeth (Betty) Carter on April 13th,1957 and they went on to have 5 sons. He was employed by State of Maine as a Civil Engineer and designed many roadways throughout the state. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood and being at his camp on the river. He was a longtime member of the Buxton Masonic Lodge 115.
He is predeceased by his wife, and parents.
He is survived by his 5 sons Stanley (Tonda), Mark, Gregory (Claudette), Scott, and Charles; his sister Nancy Townsend; 6 grandchildren - Leigha, Samantha, Abby, Jesika, Jake, and Kalee; 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 nieces and a nephew.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Maine and in particular Julie and Lynn for their kindness and wonderful care in the past few months.
There will be no services. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hollis at a later date.
