Emilio J. “Jimmy” Scapicchio, of Boston's North End, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family on Monday, April 8th. He was 91.
A life-long North Ender, Jimmy was the son of the late Peter and Maria Rosa (Iascone) Scapicchio. Jimmy was part of St Mary’s Parish where he served the altar as a young boy. He served in the Army during the Korean War and after his military service, settled back in the North End where he eventually assumed the operation of his family business, Boston Brass Andiron Co. Jimmy learned the blacksmith trade from his father as a young man and continued to operate the business until his recent retirement. He forged and sold custom fire place enclosures, fixtures and specialty items. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Jimmy enjoyed time with his family and many friends and had a special bond with his grandson Robert. He and his late wife Josette enjoyed extensive travel throughout the country and abroad. They looked forward to winters in Florida and developed many long-term friendships with people they met during their travels. In recent years, Jimmy spent time in Hampton Beach during the summers.
The beloved husband of the late Josette (Kaladjian) Scapicchio, Jimmy was a devoted father to Maria Rose Cappucci and her husband Robert of Medford, and was a loving grandfather to Robert M. Cappucci, Jr., Jimmy A. Cappucci, and Victoria Josette Cappucci. He was a dear brother to Lydia Nuzzo and her husband Edward of Medford, Sebastian “Sammy” Scapicchio and his partner Dany Quesnel of NH and Boston, and the late Connie, Angelo, Dorothy, Robert and his surviving wife Florence, Mary McCann and her late husband Jack, and Peter Jr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was the dear friend of Daveen Baliero and her family who adopted him as their own, and was the best friend of Ronnie Mustone.
Jimmy’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, April 12th at 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM . Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Thursday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jimmy’s name to the charity of one's choice.
