Cecelia Ann Petersen, also known as Celia Joanne Buscemi, passed away peacefully on Monday April 8th in Winchester, Massachusetts. She is survived by her son Michael, son-in-law Matt, sister Kathy, niece Caitlin, as well as several cousins residing in Massachusetts, California, and Canada.
Celia was a graduate of Woburn High School, class of 1965 and Lowell State College, class of 1970. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, she began her master's studies in Chemistry at Lowell Technological Institute, where she also served as a teaching assistant.
Cecelia left her graduate studies and began a lengthy career in the pharmaceutical industry. Her work travels took her to many places including the United Kingdom, France and Australia. In her twenty-five plus year career, she served as a senior manager for Fisons, Bard and Medtronic corporations managing clinical trials and regulatory compliance.
A former resident of Wakefield, Massachusetts and East Lyme, Connecticut, Celia enjoyed candlepin bowling, bingo, political debate and current affairs. Cecelia is predeceased by her father and mother, Arthur Petersen and Camille (DeVito) Petersen.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday, April 12th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
