LACONIA ---- David “Dave” G. Weller, 69, of Province Street, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at his home surrounded by his large and loving family.
Dave was born on November 19, 1954, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of Lawrence Weller and Marjorie (Hayes) Weller.
Dave was married to his wife Betsy for 43 years. They did everything together. You never saw one without the other.
He was a family man and loved his family whole heartedly. The family grew up taking vacations every summer in cabin #6 at Newfound Lake, NH, where he taught his children and “grands” how to drive the boat, water ski and survive being flipped off the tubes. He and Betsy enjoyed spending time in York, ME, and cherished their time in Naples, FL. He loved being with his grandchildren. He homeschooled his grandchildren during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dave was passionate about baseball, having played through college. Dave was a proud Poppie/Pops and could always be found supporting and cheering on his “grands” at all of their games and performances. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, next to his wife and best friend, Betsy.
Dave was a much-involved member of Living Hope Lakeport Church, where he truly felt at home. He and Betsy loved serving the Lord together in various church ministries, especially Operation Christmas Child and was often lending a helping hand wherever needed. Dave truly had a servant’s heart. He looked forward to the Men’s Bible Study and loved their community group family to share the love of the Lord and the love of community.
He was a retired truck driver. He worked first at American Frozen Foods, then at Yellow Freight for over 40 years.
Dave worked as a Funeral Care Assistant at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home. He would often be found driving the hearse with a bag of clementines in the passenger seat that he would share with his fellow staff from time to time and a pocket full of “funeral mints”. Dave was one of the most humble, selfless, faithful and caring men who walked the Earth. He leaves a legacy of hard work and compassion for the families he helped serve throughout the past 4 years.
Dave is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Marie (Soldi) Weller; son Padraic Weller and his wife Brianna, of Barnstead, NH; daughters, Erin Weller, of Laconia, NH, Brianna Beaupre and her husband William, of Laconia, NH, and Hannah Fulk
and her husband Ethan, of New Durham, NH; brothers-in-law, Peter Newman, Richard Soldi, Roger Sullivan and David Tippett; 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Emma Lynn, Caitlyn, Jordyn, Anthony, Dalis, Gunnar, Luca, Jefferson, Sawyer, Sage, and one on the way, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his infant brother, Lawrence Weller, Donald Weller and his wife Mary, mother-in-law Betty Soldi, Marjorie Newman, Judy Sullivan, Mary Oldehoff and her husband Bob, and Kathy Tippet and nephew, David Tippett.
Dave will be sorely missed, a 6’4” Dick Van Dyke look-alike, hole will be left in our hearts.
