North Grosvenordale, CT – Katrina “Nina” (Konkol) Carlson, 51, died on Good Friday, March 29, 2024 in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, surrounded by her loving family, after a 30 year illness.
She leaves her husband of 26 years, David J. Carlson, Jr.; 2 sons, Garrett N. Carlson and Colby J. Carlson; her parents, Robert W. Konkol Sr. and Carol A. (Martin) Konkol, all of North Grosvenordale; a niece, Kailey Konkol; her in-laws, David J. Carlson, Sr. and his wife Sally of Webster. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert W. Konkol, II in 2009. She also leaves her beloved dog, Marty the Jack Russell terrier. Marty was her constant companion through-out her illness.
She was born on March 13, 1973 in Southbridge and was raised in Thompson. She was a 1991 graduate of Tourtelotte Memorial High School in Thompson and earned her Associate’s Degree as a paralegal from Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA.
Mrs. Carlson first worked at the Fashion Bug in Webster, MA, she then worked as a paralegal for the law firm of Cournoyer and Cournoyer in Southbridge, MA. Afterward she worked as a claims representative at Commerce Insurance in Webster, MA before becoming a volunteer at CASA (court appointed special advocate for children) in Worcester, MA. She retired in 2001 due to illness.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster, MA. She was an avid shopper and when she could no longer get to the store, she shopped on-line. She enjoyed coloring, reading, doing puzzles and especially vacationing with her family at Bar Harbor, ME.
Her memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street, Webster, MA. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, in the church from 9:00 to 11:00 AM (parking at rear of church). Donations in her memory may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 East Main Street, Webster, MA 01570.
