Lavelle, Mark Christopher on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, of Needham, MA passed away at the age of 60.

Born September 29, 1963, in Boston, Suffolk County, MA, Mark was the son of Joseph Ernest Lavelle, Jr, and Elinor Barrett Lavelle, both proceeding him in death. Mark is survived by his sister, Adrienne Lavelle Perkins and her husband Harold Perkins; brother, Joseph Ernest (Jay) Lavelle III; Mark’s aunt and uncle, Suzanne Murphy Barrett and Albert Barrett; and his cousins and their children.

Mark grew up in Wellesley and Sudbury, MA. He attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, and continued his education by taking various business courses at New England College of Business and Framingham State University.

Working in banking, financing and for the Internal Revenue Service, Mark really enjoyed helping people and providing good customer service. He loved being part of a team and considered his coworkers family. In addition to the financial services industry, Mark worked in security services and crowd management, maintaining various certifications in public safety/crowd management, and FEMA incident command systems.

Mark’s true passion was his retired fire trucks. Over the past 25 years, he utilized his firetrucks in various charitable fund raisers, local events and parades. Mark was especially proud of seating his mother in the crew chief seat of his “Princess” Pirsch fire truck during some parades.

Over the years, Mark received numerous awards and letters of commendation for charitable and community service. He was involved with charitable and non-profit organizations such as Vested Interest in K9s, DARE, SAFE, Muscular Dystrophy, Touchdown Clubs and local Little Leagues. He was truly dedicated to law enforcement, fire services and our military. As many knew, Mark was a big advocate of wearing Red on Fridays (RED - Remember Everyone Deployed).

The friendly and compassionate person that he was, Mark never knew a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
