ALEXANDRIA ---- Joyce L. Bucklin, 78, died Friday, March 29, 2024 at Concord Hospital-Franklin. Joyce was born in Danbury, delivered at home by her midwife grandmother, to Clayton Hill and Thelma (Woodman) Hill Lemire. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Bristol. Joyce attended local schools and graduated from Bristol High School in 1964. She then moved to Alexandria where she has lived since.
Joyce was a family focused homemaker who loved raising and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was known as “Mother” to many, and as Nana, Gram, Sheba Gram, and Nonnie to her grandchildren. She loved to go shopping and out to lunch with family and friends. She enjoyed nature, bird watching and her flower gardens as well as reading and native American culture and history. For over 35 years, Joyce was an active member of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She will always be remembered for her selflessness and how she always put other’s needs first.
Family members include a daughter; Pamela (Steen) Gilpatric; son Michael (Rhonda) Bucklin; grandchildren: Mitchell Palmer, Brittney Bucklin, Tiffany Gilpatric, Nicholas Gilpatric, Dustin Bucklin, Mackenzie Bucklin; step grandchildren; Heather Start and Ashley Rodolosi; several great grandchildren; a brother Richard (Sylvia) Hill, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David Bucklin and sister Linda Hardy.
There are no calling hours.
Interment will be private at Homeland Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 1-4pm at the Alexandria Town Hall 47 Washburn Rd., Alexandria, NH.
