Janice Elaine King Allen, 83, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Southwell Health and Rehab in Adel. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hughes and the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Mrs. Allen will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Reese Haley, Josh Haley, Russell Burns, Jaimie Allen, Stephen Lee II, Russ Underwood and Doug Underwood will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Merle Bowen Sunday School Class of Tifton’s First Baptist Church and the staff and nurses at Southwell Health and Rehab in Adel.
Born June 25, 1940, in Athens, Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Dr. Frank P. King and Frances Rees King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hansel W. Allen, Jr., who passed away in 2011. She was a retired teacher; and she was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Camelia Garden Club. She enjoyed having lunch once a month with the girls of the Class of ’58. She also enjoyed front-porch visits with the ladies of the Azalea Walk neighborhood.
Mrs. Allen is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Rebecca Lee and her partner, Stanley Tucker of Palm Coast, Florida and Heidi and Al Burns of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jody Haley of Auburn, Alabama; five grandchildren, Amber R. Lee, Sarah A. Lee, Theresa L. Lee, Stephen A. Lee II and Haley G. Burns; and six great-grandchildren, Adalyn Shene, Miles Wilkinson, Ellie Wilkinson, Amelia Alvezios, Asher Martin and Annslee Martin.
