Dennis Murray Hill, 81, of Hanson passed away Saturday, March 23 rd with his family by his side after battling a lengthy illness. He is the beloved husband to Charlene (Watt) Hill.
Dennis was born in Brockton on December 18, 1942, to the late Donald and Dorothy (Varney) Hill. He was raised in Easton and graduated from Oliver Ames High School.
Dennis spent 50 years married to his loving wife Charlene. They were married in 1973 on Star Island, Isles of Shoals, in Portsmouth, NH. They settled in Hanson where they raised their family.
Dennis ran a local floral company with his family, Flowers Forever, in Whitman since 1979. He dedicated 45 years to the business and took great pride in its success, as well as providing limo services for their brides during the 80’s.
Dennis was an active member at the Silver Lake Chapel, in Plympton, he later went on to become a Deacon for their parish.
Some of Dennis’s fondest memories were cruising the Caribbean, hiking Mt. Washington and most of the Appalachian Trail with his family, motoring across the United States with his son Chris, and vacationing for 13 years on Sea Colony’s beautiful ocean in Palm Coast, FL.
Above all else, Dennis found his relaxation “in the barn” tending to his three horses, Tarzan, Jewel, and Top Sail. Dennis cared so much for his animals and had a strong bond with them all.
Dennis will be missed by all including his canine companion, Sparky, who spent the last two years sitting on Dennis’s lap.
Dennis is survived by his three sons Christopher and his wife Courtney Hill of Hanson, Patrick and his wife Kelli Hill of Middleboro, and John and his wife Jennifer Hill of New Jersey. He was the loving “Boppy” to Gracie, William, Jordan, and Jack Hill. He is also survived by his siblings Wayne Hill and his partner Julius of New Mexico, Marilyn Hill of New Hampshire, and Jerry and his wife Alice Hill of New Hampshire. As well as his niece Arlene and nephew Jeff Hill.
Dennis is predeceased by his daughter Susan of Florida.
At a later date a memorial service will be held at the Silver Lake Chapel, Lake Street, Plympton.
