Christine E. (Hanify) Coombs, 78, of Whitman, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday March 26th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence J. Coombs.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1945, Christine was the daughter of the late Paul and Gladys (Flanagan) Hanify.
She was a resident of Whitman since 1972.
She held various administrative positions in the health care industry during the course of her career.
She was an active volunteer and proud supporter for many years in the Whitman Hanson Dollars for Scholars program. Earlier in her life, she and her late husband Larry Coombs were active in the Whitman Youth and South Shore League Soccer programs.
She relished her time spent with friends at their regular gatherings. She loved to travel. She took joy in dancing whenever the opportunity presented.
She leaves behind two sons, David Coombs of Lexington and Matthew Coombs of Hingham, as well as two grandsons and several nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. She also was the sister of the late Paul J. Hanify Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend Christine’s visiting hours Thursday, April 4th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All are welcome to meet at the funeral chapel Friday, April 5th at 9:45 AM before proceeding to the Holy Ghost Church for a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. A burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
