GILFORD ---- Dr. James Joseph Bradley (Jim) of Gilford, New Hampshire died peacefully on March 25, 2024 at the age of 83, in his home and surrounded by his adoring family.
Jim was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Dr. Joseph James Bradley and Winnifred Tobin Bradley. He was proudly educated in the Jesuit tradition at Boston College High School and Boston College, from which he graduated in 1958. From there Jim's educational journey took him to New York City where he attended medical school at New York Medical College. He enjoyed a long career as an anesthesiologist where he, the proud son of an obstetrician, always loved to comfort a laboring mother with a skillfully placed epidural. In 1963 Jim met the love of his life, Susan Coyne Bradley of Laconia, New Hampshire. They were married at St. Joseph's Church in downtown Laconia on September 16, 1967 and not long after started the family that meant everything to him.
After Jim's retirement from anesthesia in 1996, he took on a second career as a Grampa where he assumed the role of "Manny" in the homes of each of his children at various times over the years. This is where Jim found true joy, surrounded by his grandchildren. In addition to cherishing his time with his grandchildren, Jim and Susan always enjoyed their time with family both on Lake Winnipesaukee and on Longboat Key, Florida, where Jim followed the sun every winter. Whether in New Hampshire or Florida, he loved riding his bicycle, playing tennis and pickleball with friends and family, and nurturing his vegetable garden every summer. He found joy in the simple things, sitting on his dock and watching the airplanes while sipping a cocktail.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Susan, his son Joseph Bradley and his wife Julie of Gilford, NH, his daughter Mary Warzynski and her husband Gary of Sudbury, MA, his daughter Alison Morrison and her husband Dave of Denver, CO as well as his eight grandchildren, James and Grace Bradley, Thomas, Ryan, Luke and Sean Warzynski and Sarah and Lee Morrison. In addition, he is survived by his siblings Mary Cavanaugh, Joseph Bradley, Paula Murphy and John Bradley. He is predeceased by his sister Eileen Bradley and his brother Stephen Bradley.
There are no calling hours.
