Obituary

We mourn the passing of Alicia Díaz, a remarkable soul who graced this world for a century with her love, wisdom, and compassion. Born on August 15th, 1923 in Sabaneta, Colombia, she embarked on a journey marked by resilience, kindness, and unconditional support for her family and friends.

Throughout her years, Alicia touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Alicia was a beacon of light, radiating warmth and wisdom wherever she went. Her infectious laughter, sage advice, witty humor, and gentle spirit endeared her to all who crossed her path.

Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She loved weekend visits to Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, Ogunquit, and Rockport, Ma. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As many called her “La Abuela”, she was everyone’s grandma. Her arepas and empanadas were a staple at home, feeding all that walked in the door.

As we bid farewell to La Abuela, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in our hearts. She may no longer walk among us but her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.

Your light will forever shine bright in our hearts, La Abuela de todos.

Alicia is survived by her daughters, Luz Mariela of Colombia, Maria of Tewksbury, Nubia of Colombia, Claudia Patricia of Florida, and her son. Many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and a second great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her children; Dario, Mercedes, Ignacio, and Juan Raul.

There be a mass at St. Patrick Parish in Lowell on April 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 am. There will be no other funeral services.
