David Griffin Walker, 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, March 25, 2024, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Chris Ramsey officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.
Mr. Walker was born December 25, 1939, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Frank David & Eloise Griffin Walker. He graduated in 1958, from Fitzgerald High School and then joined the United States Navy. Mr. Walker worked for Caterpillar and had a career in Civil Service with the United States Postal Service. He began walking a postal route and later served as a postal clerk, Assistant Postmaster and filled in for other communities as needed. Mr. Walker had over 20 years with the Board of Elections and also served many years as Chairman. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and antiques. Mr. Walker was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia B. Walker of Fitzgerald; a son, David Walker & Janet of Milner; a sister, Frankie Joy Cowan of Fitzgerald and two special nephews: Ty Cowan and Tate Cowan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ted Cowan.
