Hendricks Charles Swain, Jr., 81, of Tifton passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Brad Baker officiating. Mr. Swain will be laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Swain will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Swain’s grandsons, Timothy Swain, John Swain and Alex Swain, as well as Jeremy Allen, Brian Frazier, Cory Frazier and Melvin Lastinger will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton, as well as Fred Barnes, Tim Brady, Michael Grubbs, Terry Deberry and Wayne Musselwhite.
Born October 21, 1942, in Tift County, Mr. Swain was the son of the late Hendricks Charles Swain, Sr. and Mildred Ray Swain. He was a retired farmer; and he was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton, where he served as chairman of the deacons and had been a member his entire life. He loved his church and his farm; and he served as a Gideon. He was also a lifelong member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Mr. Swain is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Daniel Simone of Tallahassee, Florida; one son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Cindy Swain of Orlando, Florida; and six grandchildren, Timothy Swain, John H. Swain, Kelly Ann Swain, Alex Swain, Amelia Simone and Charlotte Simone.
