Obituary

Norman Robert Mucciarone, a resident of Newton, passed away peacefully at 97 years old in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Norman was born on November 5, 1926, to the late Anthony and Vera Mucciarone. He was the beloved husband for 72 years to the late Blanche Mucciarone. Norman was an identical twin to his late brother, Bob Mucciarone, and his late wife, Pauline. He was a loving brother to his deceased brother Anthony and his sister, Marie Dalo, and her late husband Steve.

Norman is survived by his 9 loving children: Patty Solomon, Joanne McNeil, Donna Burman, David Mucciarone, Nancy Mucciarone, Jack Mucciarone, Jill Scacchi, Susan Kean, and Kim Pinto. Norman leaves behind his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a devoted husband, a compassionate father, a kind-hearted grandfather, an endearing great-grandfather, and a loyal and dependable friend. If you were fortunate enough to meet Norman, you were in the presence of a true gentleman.

Norman was born in Milford, Massachusetts. He spent his younger years in Franklin, MA, where he attended school and graduated from Franklin High School.

Following the death of his brother Anthony, who stormed the beaches of Normandy during WWII, Norman and his twin brother Bob immediately enlisted in the US Navy, where they served in the South Pacific. Norman served on the U.S.S Greene, which worked as an antisubmarine picket line off the coast of Okinawa and an escort for carriers between Okinawa, Saipan, and the Philippines. After the war, he continued his service in the reserves for two additional years before being honorably discharged from active duty.

Norman married 'Blanchy' after returning from the war. They were passionate about family, golf, spending time with friends, traveling, and their faith in God. They will always be remembered by friends and family as the couple who danced through life.

Norman returned to Franklin and attended UMass Amherst School of Horticulture to become a Superintendent. For 40 years, he was a dedicated and hardworking Head Superintendent at Woodland Golf Club. Norman was an active member of the New England Superintendent Association and the Cape Cod Association well into his retirement. As a result of his years of service, the maintenance building at Woodland was dedicated to him and named the Norman Mucciarone maintenance building.

Norman had a special bond with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He continuously cheered for them at many of their sporting events and was proud of all their accomplishments. Norman loved having the grandchildren and great-grandchildren over to his house and always made sure the pool was ready for the summer.
