Donald Eugene King, 84, of Home, PA passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana, PA.
Don was born on July 17, 1939 to Glenn E. and Lucille J. (Brilhart) King and grew up in Glen Campbell, PA.
Don and his wife Virginia (Donahue) King shared thirty-nine years of marriage before her passing in 2021.
After graduating from Marion Center High School, Don enjoyed a long career as the head of maintenance at the Marion Center Area School District.
Don enjoyed sharing his many interests, including trains, antique tools, steam engines, farm and heavy equipment scale modes and family history.
He was known as “Mr. Fix-it” and enjoyed recycling scrap metal.
Don was a member of the Montgomery Church of the Brethren. Don and Virginia took great pride in their many years as caretakers for the Montgomery Cemetery.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Virginia (Donahue) King; sister Jane States; brothers-in-law: Lester Clayton; Rich Getty and Ron States.
Don is survived by his three stepchildren: Karen (Randy) (Walker) Mers; Harry Eugene (Wanda) Walker; Lori (John) (Walker) Colananni; step grandchildren: Brian (Jamie) Walker; David Walker and Cristie (Doug) Smeltzer and numerous step great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his two sisters: Sarah Clayton and Joanne Getty; numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend, Don Lightcap.
The family would like to thank Don’s very special home caregivers, Anew Healthcare and Scenery Hill Manor.
All of Don’s visitation and his funeral service will be held at the Montgomery Church of the Brethren in Purchase Line, PA. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 and again on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., the time of the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Dale Leverknight will officiate. Interment will take place at the Montgomery Cemetery.
