Cheryl Ann (Leakeas) Yearling, 62, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness with her family by her side.
She was born on March 10, 1962 in Lowell, a daughter of the late Arthur Holmes and the late Mickey (Bryan) Leakeas. She was raised and educated in the Lowell area. She worked in the Lowell Public School system as a cafeteria worker for several years, most of them at the Shaughnessy School before illness forced her retirement.
Cheryl enjoyed arts and crafts and loved the lottery especially her scratch tickets. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great storyteller and always let her personality shine through with all who knew her. She was also sweet, loving and stubborn. To truly know her, was to love her, she will be dearly missed by those loved ones who were a part of her life.
She is survived by her sister Joanne Emmons and her husband, Robert, of Lowell and her brother Paul Leakeas of Lowell, she is also survived by her nieces and nephews, including, Angela McKenzie and her husband, Peter, of Lowell, Nichole Emmons of Lowell, Robert Emmons of Lowell who was her godson, Kelly Ann Emmons of Lowell, Courtney Davis and her husband, Tim of Florida and Paul Leakeas of Lowell, her grand nieces and grand nephews, Xavier, Julia, Caleb, Jaxson, Stella and Anthony. She is also survived by her dear aunt, Judy Schaffer of Dracut, her uncle, Richard Bryan of Lowell. her cousin Diane Descheneaux of Dracut and many other cousins and other extended family.
She was a sister in law of the late Eileen Leakeas, granddaughter of the late Julia Bryan, the beloved and cherished Nana and matriarch of the family.
At her request, funeral services will not be held.
