Dorothea Ann Dunlap (Dotty), 89, of South Boston, MA, passed away at home on March 15, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.
Dotty was born to Edward Berger (deceased) and Dorothy (Kenneally - Little) Berger (deceased) in Boston, MA. She was the sister of the late Edward Berger, Jr. After graduating from Boston Trade High School as a seamstress, she worked designing and creating clothes for both private and commercial customers. In her youth she loved swimming long distances. Dotty loved animals, especially her two dogs Prince and Christie, as well as her cat Jason. She always had a parakeet named Pudgy because it brought her fond memories of her late mom and dad. She also loved gardening and always looked forward to being taken out on Mother’s Day to go shopping for her plants, especially her ‘Early Girl’ tomatoes.
Dotty was a strong, self-supporting single mom who loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her three children AnnMarie Dunlap, of Duxbury, Kathleen and her husband Robert Barry, of South Boston, and James Dunlap and his wife Colleen (Watson) Dunlap, of Duxbury, as well as her six grandchildren, Michael and Kevin Barry and Mackenzie Dunlap and her fiancé John Jankowski, McCormack, Maguire, and McCian Dunlap, and her three great grandsons John, James, and Jaxxon “Double X.”
A memorial service will be held in honor of Dotty on March 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston.
