Torrey Milligan Burnett, 96, of Medway, died peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Timothy Daniels House in Holliston. She was the beloved wife of Calvin Waller Burnett who died in 2007.
Born in Brockton on August 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Thornley H. & Marion Milligan.
Torrey was a resident of Medway since 1977. She grew up in Easton, attended the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art.
Before her retirement, Torrey was an art teacher and art slide librarian at the Massachusetts College of Art for many years, where she met Calvin. Her fondest time was as an art teacher at the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in Northampton.
Torrey was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship which enabled her to teach for a year in Antigua.
She was an accomplished artist and loved playing tennis. She would never say no to a good British mystery.
Torrey is survived by her son-in-law John Elkerton of Medway and was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth “Tobey” Burnett and two brothers.
Torrey’s funeral services will take place privately at the request of her family.
