Ola Mae McCorvey Annis, 80, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. D. E. Beasley and the Rev. Tony Register officiating. Mrs. Annis was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Keith Powell, Mark Harris, Chris Sumner, Donald McCorvey, Danny McCorvey, Ronnie Lawson, Bobby Mathis, Randy McCorvey and Pernell McCorvey served as pallbearers.
Born December 3, 1922, in Worth County, Mrs. Annis was the daughter of the late John Dan McCorvey and Mary Alice Dillard McCorvey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Aubie "W. A." Annis; and one daughter, Gladys Marilyn Annis McDaniel. She worked in nursing for many years. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed cooking for elderly shut-ins. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family; and she was a lifelong member of Lenox Baptist Church.
Mrs. Annis is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Martha Annis of Tallahassee, Florida and Peggy and Wendell Westbrook of Tifton; two sons, Jimmy Johnson and Vernon Johnson, both of Macon; three brothers, Marvin McCorvey and Bobby McCorvey, both of Nashville and Evans McCorvey of Albany; two sisters, Bessie Lawson of Tifton and Mary Sumner of Alapaha; six grandchildren and their spouses, Aubrey and Karen Iler, Richard and Joy Sanders, Mike and Stacey McDaniel, Joe and Sheila McDaniel, Alan and Alisa Westbrook and Jennifer Westbrook; and nine great-grandchildren, Kevin Iler, Austin Iler, Allison Iler, Hailey Sanders, Ryan Sanders, Logan McDaniel, Grant McDaniel, Hunter McDaniel and Brent McDaniel.
