Elsie Cannady Yawn, 98, of Enigma passed away Monday, August 23, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Steve Hand and the Rev. Dan Robinson officiating. Mrs. Yawn was laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma.
James Akins, Stan Yawn, Joey Moore, Josh Moore, Phil Beach and Lon Asmussen served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Zach Moore, Michael Hand, Blake hand, Sam Beach, Joseph Asmussen, Rachel Yawn, Brea Yawn, Zoe Yawn and James Yawn.
Born December 7, 1905, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Yawn was the daughter of the late Wesley Cannady and Barzella Roberts Cannady. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lonnie Yawn; two brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Yawn is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eston and Shelby Yawn of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jimmy Akins of Enigma; one brother, Horace Cannady of Valdosta; one sister, Myrtice Smith of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and their spouses, Becky and Joey Moore, Lucy and Steve Hand, James Akins, Lecial and Phil Beach, Stanley and Nicole Yawn and Bridgette and Lon Asmussen; and nine great-grandchildren.
