Lucie Toussaint, 47, of Chicopee passed away in her home on March 16th, 2024. Her loss was unexpected, and her family is profoundly saddened.
Lucie was born on February 1, 1977 in Springfield, MA, the second daughter of Elmer and Denise Toussaint. Lucie attended St. Joseph St. Thomas Aquinas School in Springfield for grammar and middle school where she made many lifelong friends. Lucie then attended Granby Junior Senior High School, but her high school career was interrupted by a tragic car accident in 1992, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury. Lucie had a long recovery, but persevered and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1996.
In her early years Lucie was a competitive dancer and ever the entertainer. She had a beautiful smile and a heartfelt laughter. Lucie had a huge heart; she accepted everyone just as they were with open arms. Lucie was very generous and giving with what little she had, often wanting to share her culinary skills and cooking with others. Lucie had a gift with words whether it was through her writing, poetry or making friends with anyone she met. She was a social butterfly! Lucie was quite funny. She had a quick wit and a silly, sometimes even “inappropriate” sense of humor. Lucie’s love of dancing and music followed her into adulthood and she could often be found dancing and singing the night away with her friends and family who liked to do the same. The only thing that surpassed her love of dance and music, was her love for her French Canadian family and heritage which expanded in 2005, when Lucie gave birth to the light of her life, her son Gabriel Leo Toussaint.
Lucie had an incredibly strong faith and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield, MA.
Lucie was predeceased by her father Elmer Toussaint in 1992, her godfather, her grandparents, two close cousins, and several aunts and uncles.
Lucie is survived by her cherished son Gabriel Leo Toussaint, her mother and angel on earth Denise Toussaint, her dear friend and mother’s loving life partner Richard Boyce Sr., her two devoted sisters Sylvie Cooney and Linda Toussaint, her two brothers in-law Jon Cooney and Junito (Digno) Ortiz, her nieces and nephew Nat, Leah and Ben Cooney, her many aunts, uncles, and close cousins and many, many, MANY cherished friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 23, 2024 at 12 noon at St. Rose De Lima Church on Grattan Street in Chicopee, MA 01020.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that any donations be made to Gabe’s education/future fund at https://gofund.me/4718f2bd
